Start with the whole job
Distance matters, but a postcode-to-postcode price can miss the work needed at either end. The transporter needs to know where the car stands, how it can be loaded and who will receive it.

Same distance, different collection
A running car with keys on an open forecourt and a damaged car with a locked wheel may travel the same route. They can still need different handling. Describe the vehicle's current condition, including anything the seller has not checked. These are comparison examples, not quotations for particular jobs.
For a non-runner movement, say separately whether the engine starts, the wheels roll and the steering moves. For an auction purchase, confirm release before treating a preferred date as a collection appointment.
Send a clear transport brief
Include the registration or stock reference, make and model, full collection and delivery addresses, running and loading condition, keys, access restrictions and preferred date. Add the contact who can release the car and the person receiving it.
Keep that brief with the quotation so you can check that both describe the same movement. Tell us before collection if the destination or vehicle condition changes.
