Car and van recovery in Lee-on-the-Solent

When your car will not leave Lee-on-the-Solent under its own power, call AtWheel with the location and problem. We will discuss assistance and recovery to an agreed destination, whether the vehicle is on your drive or in seafront parking. The standard recovery call-out is £100, with mileage and job extras quoted separately. Van enquiries up to 3,500 kg are welcome.

Can you recover my car in Lee-on-the-Solent?

Tell us where it is, what has happened and where you want it taken. That lets AtWheel discuss a practical recovery rather than guess from a broad description of the fault. If it has stopped on a road, begin with the road and your direction of travel. If it has failed to start after parking, name the site or property. We will need the registration, make and model and a callback number that reaches someone who knows the situation.

Do not worry if you cannot diagnose the problem. An explanation of what you saw or heard is useful: an engine cutting out, a warning message, a clicking starter or a car that turns over without firing. Tell us if anyone has already inspected it or tried to help. If it cannot roll or steer, mention that separately. Starting failure and loading difficulty are not the same thing, even though both may prevent you from driving away.

A photo can help explain a parking position, but only take one from somewhere safe. There is no need to enter traffic, crawl beneath the car or force its controls to give us more information. Our breakdown guidance covers the immediate priorities. AtWheel can start an enquiry from the facts you have, and discuss what else is needed before agreeing the job.

Seafront road parking or a separate car park?

Lee-on-the-Solent has parking on the seafront roads as well as separate sites. Marine Parade, Flower Buildings, Beach Road and Elmore are different references, so “on the seafront” can leave too much uncertainty. Give the actual road or car park name and describe where the car is in relation to an entrance or numbered bay. A payment receipt or app location may help identify the site without requiring a walk to find another sign.

Tell us whether there is a height barrier or a controlled exit between the car and the road. At a managed site, ask the operator about recovery access and any parking issue caused by the breakdown. The recovery booking itself does not change the parking arrangements or provide a refund. If a gate has a closing time, pass that on before a collection window is discussed rather than assuming outside access will remain available.

If family or friends have taken you elsewhere, arrange who will meet the collection with the keys. The person booking may not be the person beside the car, so keep both contacts clear. Do not leave an unexplained set of keys with a third party and assume they can authorise release. A named keyholder and accurate parking position make the difference between a usable handover and a series of calls to find the vehicle.

A car that fails at home

For a non-start on your drive, explain how the car is parked and whether another vehicle blocks it. Give the entrance details and mention slopes or a narrow gap alongside the house. We need the address of the car, which may be at a relative's property or separate garage rather than your correspondence address. Recovery can be discussed from the existing position; you do not need to push it into the road first.

Tell us what happens during a normal start attempt and whether it has needed help recently. A weak battery is one possibility, but other faults can produce similar symptoms. AtWheel's mobile jump-start service may be suitable for some enquiries. If a battery needs replacing, our mobile replacement service starts from £149, with the old battery removed free and vehicle-specific fitting and coding requirements considered.

Battery work and recovery are different services with their own assessment. A new battery should not be assumed to fix a charging-system or mechanical problem. Explain what is known so the appropriate next step can be discussed. If the car needs a workshop, contact your intended repairer and check that it can receive the vehicle before a collection destination is confirmed.

Vans, tools and work commitments

AtWheel can assess van recovery up to 3,500 kg. Describe the body type, current load and fitted equipment. A van used for work may carry racking, tools, materials or roof attachments that need considering alongside the base vehicle. Tell us about damage, a trailer or any modification. The actual van, access and condition determine what can be undertaken, not the model name alone.

At a customer's property, arrange permission to enter and identify who can move any vehicle blocking the way. At a business, supply the unit, vehicle gate and release contact. If the driver needs tools before the van leaves, plan that separately and safely. Passenger transport and extra goods are not automatic parts of a recovery booking, so raise those needs when enquiring. We can discuss the vehicle movement once the full circumstances are understood.

A low entrance needs a proper access assessment

For covered parking or a multi-storey car park recovery enquiry, AtWheel can work with 2.1 m clearance. Give the signed height rather than an approximate description. We also need the layout: ramps, tight turns, overhead fittings and the space around the disabled car. A 2.1 m entrance does not establish that every part of the route is suitable for collection.

Access below 2.1 m is not promised. If your site has a lower sign, explain that before assuming a booking can proceed. Tell us which floor or section the car is in, whether it can steer and whether its parking brake releases. Do not remove a barrier or attempt to drag the car through a restricted area. Where safe, a photograph and the site operator's access instructions can help us assess the job as it stands.

Where should a recovered car go?

You can ask about recovery to your home, usual garage or another agreed destination. Call the receiving person first if possible. A garage may need advance notice to accept a non-runner, particularly if a wheel is locked or the vehicle has damage. Confirm the unloading space, opening hours and who receives the keys. The transport of the car and the repair appointment are separate arrangements, and both need to be workable.

At home, think about whether the vehicle can stay where it will be unloaded. A car that cannot start may not be easily moved again, and a shared entrance should not be blocked. If you cannot attend, nominate an authorised recipient and keep someone reachable who can approve a change. Tell AtWheel if the destination changes while you are making plans so the route and quote can be reviewed.

For nearby locations, see Gosport recovery and Stubbington recovery. We work from the exact addresses, whichever local page you found first. Our Hampshire recovery service brings those enquiries into one booking discussion rather than treating each area as a separate depot or a guaranteed arrival time.

Understanding the £100 recovery call-out

£100 is the standard AtWheel call-out charge for recovery. Mileage and job extras are quoted separately. It is not a flat total for every movement within Lee-on-the-Solent, and closeness to a destination does not tell us everything about loading. Provide the location, destination, car or van details and access conditions so the full amount can be explained. The pricing page gives the basic structure.

If you are moving a vehicle after a purchase or arranging a later garage transfer, see Lee-on-the-Solent vehicle transport. Planned transport uses its own mileage calculation, so tell us the purpose and timing rather than assuming the recovery call-out applies to every vehicle move. We can then discuss the right service and current availability.

Keeping the plan accurate until collection

Update AtWheel if the car is moved into another bay, a key becomes unavailable or a garage changes its acceptance time. Those changes can affect collection even when the area and registration stay the same. Keep the agreed destination and contact details together if more than one person is helping. A short note of the fault is also useful for the repairer, especially where a family member will receive the car on your behalf.

Call 07444 400271 when you have the basic location and vehicle details. AtWheel is part of SteelMarch Group. We will talk through what has happened, the access and where the car needs to go, then discuss a recovery arrangement appropriate to the job. The aim is a clear next step and an understood price, rather than leaving you to infer what a call-out figure or nearby location includes.

Let’s get your vehicle sorted.

Tell us where you are, what has happened and where the vehicle needs to go.
