ATWHEEL · BROCKENHURST

Vehicle transport in Brockenhurst

AtWheel arranges vehicle transport for Brockenhurst purchases, workshop moves and cars that are not ready to be driven. The important details are where the vehicle stands, how it can be loaded and who will receive it. Send both locations with the registration and condition, and we can work through a quotation and collection plan.

A car purchase does not need a second driver

You may have found a car in Brockenhurst without having a convenient way to drive it home. Perhaps it needs repairs first, or you want it delivered to a workshop before using it. AtWheel’s vehicle transport service can be discussed around that plan. Tell us what is fixed about the sale and what remains to be arranged, especially the date the seller can release the vehicle.

Ask the seller to confirm the car’s present condition before requesting a final quote. An advert may have been written before a battery went flat or repair work began. Give us information that describes the vehicle we will actually collect. Transporting a car does not replace your purchase checks or settle the terms of the sale; payment, documents and authority to release it need agreement with the seller.

If you are viewing by train, Brockenhurst station is on Station Approach. Your meeting point and the car’s collection address may still be different. Do not assume transport equipment should attend the station because that is where you are meeting the seller. Obtain the address where the car can properly be handed over, and tell us before anyone builds a timetable around the wrong location.

Route mileage and the transport quote

AtWheel’s transport rate is £3 per mile for the complete route from PO13 8DG to collection and then to delivery. For a Brockenhurst purchase, that includes reaching the seller before taking the vehicle to your chosen address. A calculator showing only the miles from the seller to your home does not describe the same charging route. Provide both postcodes so the starting point and both destinations can be considered.

The quoted route basis does not automatically add a return journey after delivery. Planned transport also does not automatically attract the standard £100 recovery call-out. We discuss job extras separately where they are relevant to the handling or access. A non-running vehicle can be a planned transport request; its inability to start does not by itself turn the agreed service into a breakdown call-out.

Use the transport enquiry form with the registration, collection and delivery details, condition and preferred timing. A submitted request still needs suitability and availability checks before booking. If the seller gives you a different address later, update the enquiry rather than treating the first route as final. Even a modest change of location can introduce a different gate, surface or loading constraint.

Collecting from a property or accommodation

At a home address, identify the entrance that leads to the parked car. A long driveway, a second gate or a shared approach may need explaining beyond the postcode. Tell us where the car sits and whether other vehicles normally stand between it and the road. Arrange for the property owner to keep the agreed approach available, rather than expecting the driver to find someone who can move an obstruction.

If the car is at a hotel or holiday property, ask which member of staff or host can authorise collection. Visitor parking and service access may have different arrangements. Give the relevant contact and explain whether you will still be on site. Leaving after checkout does not necessarily provide anyone else with the authority or information required to hand your vehicle to an operator.

The key arrangement should be explicit. Tell us who holds the key, when they will be there and whether it opens and releases the car normally. If a friend is helping, make sure they know the registration and the agreed destination. A booking is much easier to coordinate when the person meeting us has the same information as the person who requested the quote.

Village parking is not one collection point

The parish council identifies separate council and supermarket car parks on Brookley Road. If a car is to leave either site, name it and describe its actual position. A reference to “the village car park” can send the conversation towards the wrong entrance. If the seller proposes a public meeting point instead of collection from home, tell us who has checked that loading there is permitted and practical.

Describe nearby pedestrian routes, parking aisles and the room available around the vehicle. A car can fit into a normal bay while equipment needs more space to approach it. We assess that difference before agreeing a loading position. Moving cones, holding spaces or blocking a footway without authority is not an appropriate way to prepare for transport.

For a Forest-side property, explain the whole approach. The National Park guide identifies the watersplash beside Rhinefield Road; if a ford or water is involved in directions you have been given, flag it expressly. A route suitable on a seller’s usual journey should not automatically be supplied as the route for vehicle transport. We need to check suitable access, not experiment with water or an unknown surface on arrival.

Project cars and vehicles that have stood

A restoration purchase needs more than the word project on the quote form. List missing wheels, loose bodywork or removed suspension components, and describe what is known about the brakes and steering. A car that moved freely before being stored may no longer do so. Ask the current keeper for recent observations, while making clear that no risky effort is needed simply to answer an enquiry.

Our non-runner transport information explains why starting, driving, rolling and steering are separate questions. A running engine does not establish that the gearbox works, and a stopped engine does not necessarily prevent straightforward positioning. Report unknowns as unknowns so they can be considered properly rather than converted into promises which nobody has actually checked.

Where a vehicle comes with spare parts, describe what is included and where those items are. Heavy or loose components should not appear as an undisclosed additional load on collection day. The recipient also needs to know what is arriving and have somewhere for it. An agreed car movement is not automatically an agreement to collect an entire collection of workshop equipment.

Low cars, vans and restricted access

A classic or modified car may need particular discussion about loading clearance. Mention a splitter, altered suspension, fragile panels or any other concern before we quote. The classic car transport page is a useful starting point, but the actual model and condition remain important. Photographs taken recently can support the description, especially when they also show the available approach.

AtWheel can handle vans up to 3,500kg, subject to the relevant weight, dimensions, load and job assessment. Provide the body type and details of roof equipment or a conversion. For restricted sites we have equipment that can work with 2.1m clearance; lower height must not be assumed suitable. Ramps, sharp turns and the space around the vehicle still need to be checked independently of the entrance height.

A workshop booking needs a receiving plan

If your car is going directly to a repairer, agree its arrival arrangements with that business before transport is confirmed. Ask where a non-runner should be unloaded and who will receive the keys. A workshop can have a full forecourt even where a repair appointment exists. Its instructions need to reach AtWheel while we are planning the movement, not after collection has already taken place.

For a car leaving a dealer or another workshop, obtain any release reference and contact details required. Our dealer and business collection guidance helps distinguish a sales agreement from the practical release. If the car has been dismantled during inspection, describe its current state rather than reusing the information supplied when it first entered the garage.

Home delivery deserves the same thought. Identify a place where the car can remain safely after unloading, without blocking necessary access. If it will not move under its own power, consider how another operator or repairer will reach it later. Explain any awkward final positioning before booking. The destination postcode tells us where to travel, but it cannot describe the space where the vehicle should finish.

A single agreed set of instructions

Keep one person responsible for approving changes and provide a reachable contact at each end. If the seller becomes unavailable or the receiving garage changes its hours, let us know promptly. Record existing damage and loose items at handover so everyone understands the vehicle’s condition. The aim is a clear transfer of the agreed vehicle, with the necessary keys, authority and destination instructions together.
