Vehicle transport in Bordon

AtWheel can arrange transport for a vehicle bought in Bordon, a car going to a workshop or a non-runner which needs moving from its present address. We need the actual collection entrance, destination and condition. With those details in place, we can discuss the full route charge and agree who will release and receive the car.

An address is only the start

When buying privately in Bordon, ask the seller where the car is standing rather than assume it is at their correspondence address. It may be in a residential parking court, at another family member’s house or with a repairer. AtWheel’s collection plan must begin at that actual site. Include the house number or business name and the entrance used by vehicles, even where the postcode is already known.

Explain who will meet the operator and what authority is needed for release. If the person selling is away, a friend handling the key should know the registration, destination and agreed collection arrangements. Payment and sale documents remain matters for buyer and seller. Transport does not establish a vehicle’s condition for purchase purposes or resolve a disagreement about whether it should be released.

Vehicle routes through the town centre

The Shed’s directions separate parking beside the venue and at Parade Square from walking access via Chalet Hill. Vehicle approaches are described through Budds Lane or the A325 Relief Road. If a collection is proposed near the town centre, provide the route to the car rather than the route somebody followed on foot to meet you. The distinction can matter even when the destinations look close together.

Hampshire County Council also describes the Green Loop as a pedestrian and cycle network. It should not be mistaken for an approved approach for transport equipment. For a new or unfamiliar address, ask the keeper to confirm the usable vehicle entrance and any gate arrangements. We assess the actual access; a line on a mapping app does not give permission to use a path.

When a public car park is suggested as a sale meeting point, check the operator’s permission and whether the layout supports the proposed loading. Tell AtWheel before agreeing the location with the seller. A convenient place to exchange documents may not be a suitable place to load a non-runner, especially where parked cars or pedestrian routes limit the available space.

How the mileage is charged

The AtWheel transport mileage rate is £3 per mile for the route from PO13 8DG to the collection and then to the delivery. We include the journey to reach the car. If a Bordon car is being moved only a few streets, calculating just that short loaded journey will not reflect the full route used for the quotation.

There is no automatic return leg after delivery in this mileage basis. The standard £100 recovery call-out is not automatically added to planned transport. Any job extras are discussed separately against the handling and access required. Explain a locked wheel, restricted entrance or other difficulty at the enquiry stage so the complete quote is based on the vehicle we will actually encounter.

Send your request through the transport quote form, including collection, destination, registration, condition and preferred timing. An enquiry is subject to availability and suitability checks before booking. If a postcode is provisional, make that clear and obtain the final address before relying on a settled figure. A different collection address can alter the road mileage and the loading arrangements.

Residential parking courts and drives

At a housing development, identify the bay or drive serving the vehicle and explain how it is reached. A pedestrian entrance by the front door may not be the route into the parking area. Tell us about fobs, barriers, gates and any instruction from the site manager. Arrange for someone with the necessary access to be present rather than assume a visitor can enter unaided.

If another vehicle blocks the car, ask the person responsible to move it before collection. Include slopes, sharp turns, low overhangs and restricted manoeuvring space in the description. Photographs can help if taken safely. Do not push a faulty vehicle onto a road or across a pavement to simplify the address; its current position and limitations should first be assessed.

For a shared entrance, discuss the proposed collection with anyone whose access could be affected. The seller may be entitled to park there without having authority to change how the whole area is used. Giving AtWheel the layout and the person responsible for the site allows the arrangement to be checked properly before people reserve time for the job.

A non-runner needs a current description

Ask the keeper four separate questions: does the vehicle start, does it drive, do the wheels turn and does the steering unlock? Those are not interchangeable. A car with a good engine may have a failed transmission, while a car with a dead battery may still roll. Our non-runner transport service uses the actual answers to assess loading rather than infer everything from one label.

Report anything that has changed since the advert or earlier quote. A car may now have a flat tyre, a brake that will not release or a missing key. If a workshop has removed parts, ask exactly what remains fitted. It is acceptable to say something has not been checked; it is less useful to repeat an assurance that nobody can support with current information.

Loose panels and parts travelling with the car need to be described separately. Heavy equipment inside a vehicle can affect the load even if it is out of sight. Agree what is included and make sure the recipient expects it. A vehicle movement should not unexpectedly expand into collecting tools or other belongings from additional locations which were never part of the route.

Workshop and business handover

When the destination is a repairer, confirm its receiving window before booking transport. Ask for the entrance used for vehicle deliveries and the person who will take the key. A car unable to drive may need a different place from a normal customer arriving for service. Let the garage know the condition so it can agree an appropriate position for unloading and later handling.

For collection from a dealer or business, obtain the release reference and contact for the team managing the vehicle. A salesperson may have completed the sale while another department controls the keys. Our dealer collection guidance explains the practical handover information. If release is not yet approved, tell us rather than book around an assumption that the paperwork will be finished in time.

Vans up to 3,500kg can be discussed with AtWheel. Include the body type, weight, dimensions and load, plus any conversion or roof equipment. Where a business is transferring a vehicle between sites, establish who authorises the cost and who receives it. The regular driver may not be available, so access and key instructions need to work without relying on their presence.

Clearance and vehicle-specific concerns

AtWheel has equipment that can work with 2.1m clearance, subject to the complete site assessment. A lower entrance must not be assumed suitable. Height is considered alongside bends, ramps and the space needed at the vehicle. Share any known restriction before agreeing a date so the proposed collection can be reviewed against the equipment and movement required.

For a low, modified or cherished car, describe bodywork and ground-clearance concerns as well as access. A splitter or lowered suspension may affect the questions we need to ask. See our classic car transport information for a starting point. Recent photographs can support the enquiry, but the keeper should still explain anything a picture does not reveal about the vehicle’s controls or movement.

Agree the delivery position

Tell the recipient whether the car will be able to move after unloading. If it cannot, identify a sensible place where it can remain and later be reached for repairs. Avoid choosing a position that blocks a shared drive or traps another vehicle. A home address and someone answering the door do not by themselves establish that the destination is ready for a non-runner.

Keep the handover information together: existing damage, missing items, keys and any fault the recipient needs to know. Use one reachable contact for decisions if several people are involved. If availability changes at either end, update AtWheel promptly. The agreed plan should reflect who will actually be present and the vehicle’s condition on the day, rather than an earlier version of the arrangements.

If you expect the car to come home after repairs, mention that as a separate proposed movement. The first delivery does not automatically book a later return at an unknown date. Once the workshop has confirmed readiness, supply the updated condition and receiving details. That allows the later route and availability to be discussed using current information instead of attaching an unconfirmed second job to the original booking.
