Vehicle transport in Hedge End

AtWheel can arrange planned vehicle transport to or from Hedge End when a car needs collecting from a seller, moving between workshops or delivering to its new home. We work through the handover and access details with you before confirming the job. Start with the registration, both addresses and an accurate description of whether the vehicle runs and moves.

A planned move needs a clear collection address

Hedge End may be the owner's address, the seller's advertised location or the place where the vehicle is stored. Tell AtWheel which one applies. The transport route must use the actual collection point, even when the paperwork gives a different address. For a vehicle at a business, include the unit or site name and the entrance used to reach the parking area.

Our vehicle transport service can assess purchases, sales, workshop transfers and non-running cars. Explain what you are arranging and whether there is a receiving appointment to meet. A preferred date is useful, but the collection is only confirmed once availability, suitability and the price have been agreed. An online enquiry should not be treated as a reserved transport slot.

The two mileage legs in your quote

Transport is charged at £3 per mile for the full route from PO13 8DG to collection, then onward to delivery. The first leg brings AtWheel to the vehicle; the second carries out the agreed delivery. Both are part of the mileage calculation. There is no assumption that a short car move within Hedge End should be charged only for the distance between its two local addresses.

Suppose, purely as an example, the first leg is 18 miles and the onward journey is 12 miles. The total is 30 miles, producing a £90 mileage charge at £3 per mile. This does not describe a measured route to a particular Hedge End property. Use the correct postcodes so the actual road journey can be calculated, and disclose any access or loading issue that may require a separately agreed job extra.

The online transport quote form gives you a way to provide the route and vehicle details. Include the full addresses and any practical information alongside the postcodes. The calculation does not automatically confirm the vehicle's suitability, access to private premises or the people available for handover. AtWheel checks those points before turning an enquiry into a booked movement.

Collecting a purchase from a private seller

Before booking collection, confirm the sale with the seller and make sure the car is ready to be released. Give the registration, make and model, along with the seller's name and contact details. Ask the seller to describe where it is parked and whether it can move under its own power. An advertisement's description may not reflect a battery that has gone flat or a change in storage position.

Resolve purchase questions directly with the seller. Transport is the agreed movement of the vehicle; it does not replace an inspection or settle a dispute over its condition. If the seller will not be present, establish who is authorised to release it and who will hold the keys. Do not rely on a vague arrangement that someone nearby will find the right person when collection begins.

For a car being sold from your own home, remove personal items and identify anything intended to travel with it. Tell AtWheel about loose parts or accessories, so they can be considered in the plan rather than discovered during handover. The buyer should confirm the delivery address and receiving contact before the journey is priced. Those details are as important as the seller's availability.

Retail and business parking need permission

Hedge End Town Council points out that many local car parks are associated with private businesses or facilities. If a vehicle is held at one of those sites, ask the operator about collection and loading arrangements. Permission to leave a car in a bay is not automatically permission to use a delivery entrance or hold up an aisle while it is loaded.

Give AtWheel the actual business name and parking area instead of a broad description such as “the retail park”. A customer entrance, staff gate and service yard may have different controls. Tell us who can approve access and whether an appointment is needed. If the premises cannot offer a suitable position, discuss that before the car is moved elsewhere; a new location may alter the route and quote.

Village car parks and changing access arrangements

The town council identifies the former Budgens parking area in its village parking guidance and notes a closing time and a Wednesday market section. If a planned collection involves that site, check the current arrangements with the operator and tell us about any restriction affecting the bay or approach. The fact that you have parked there previously does not confirm the space available for a vehicle movement on another day.

AtWheel should know about gates, barriers and event activity before agreeing a time. If the owner cannot attend, the person meeting us must also understand any site permission. A collection plan can fail even when the correct keys are available if no one can authorise access. Settle the working position and contact arrangements together, rather than leaving them as separate assumptions.

Station travel is separate from car collection

Hedge End station is on Stroudley Way. If you intend to travel by rail to meet a seller or after handing over your own car, give us the vehicle address separately from your passenger meeting point. A station can be a useful landmark, but that does not make its parking area an agreed loading location. The collection should be planned around where the vehicle is legitimately held.

If the car is already at the station, provide its precise position and confirm the parking and release arrangements. Explain who has the keys and whether an authorised person will meet AtWheel. We cannot assume a vehicle can be left unattended for collection just because the owner is travelling. Make any necessary parking arrangements directly with the operator before confirming the movement.

Moving a car between workshops

For a workshop transfer, ask the collecting garage to confirm that the vehicle is released and ready. Mention unfinished repairs, removed parts or anything affecting its ability to roll and steer. If the car has changed condition since you requested a quote, update AtWheel. A vehicle awaiting a replacement wheel needs a different assessment from a running car waiting for routine servicing.

The receiving workshop should give a suitable entrance, unloading position and contact for the keys. Check that its appointment includes receiving the car in its current condition. A garage may be happy to repair a non-runner but still need it delivered during a particular period or into a particular area. Clear instructions from both workshops help us confirm a workable transfer.

The details we need about a non-runner

Tell us whether the vehicle starts, rolls, steers and releases its parking brake. Include tyre condition, available keys and any damage or unusually low bodywork. “Non-runner” is a broad description, so explain what is known and what has not been tested. Do not force a selector, brake release or steering mechanism simply to turn an uncertain answer into a yes.

For an electric, hybrid or automatic vehicle, provide the exact model and any warnings or damage. The loading and movement method must suit it. If a charging cable is attached, arrange proper disconnection through the relevant operator where necessary. Our non-runner transport guide explains the questions that help assess collection, while the preparation guide covers keys, belongings and handover.

Van moves and restricted access

AtWheel can handle vans up to 3,500kg. For transport in Hedge End, include the van's model, weight information and present load, with details of a high roof, conversion or fitted equipment. The assessment must reflect the vehicle on collection day. If someone adds goods or removes major parts after booking, tell us so the suitability of the planned movement can be checked.

Our equipment can work with 2.1m clearance, subject to the route and loading assessment. Tell us about any height restriction at collection or delivery, along with ramps, turning space and gates. We do not promise entry below 2.1m. A suitable entrance height is one part of the decision, and it does not override a site operator's restrictions or make an inaccessible bay usable.

Delivery and nearby vehicle moves

Choose a delivery position where the vehicle can remain after unloading, especially if it cannot be driven. Provide the receiver's name and a number they can answer, then confirm how the keys will be handed over. A shared drive or workshop yard may need permission from someone other than the buyer. If a return collection is needed later, arrange that as its own movement.

We also describe vehicle transport in Botley and Bursledon car collections. Use the actual storage location when choosing a route. If you need help because the vehicle has unexpectedly failed, go to Hedge End breakdown recovery. For a planned move, contact AtWheel with the addresses, vehicle condition and handover contacts so we can agree the complete job.

Let’s get your vehicle sorted.

Tell us where you are, what has happened and where the vehicle needs to go.
