A workshop transfer with the loading condition confirmed
Before moving a car from a Horndean garage, ask how it will be presented for collection. Inspection or repairs may have changed it from a running vehicle into one that cannot move normally. AtWheel needs to know about wheels, steering, brakes, keys and any removed or unsecured parts. The receiving workshop needs the same description so it can prepare an appropriate unloading and storage position.
Give the full collection address and the entrance used by vehicles. A business name or reception postcode may not lead to the workshop yard. Confirm who can release the keys and the actual handover hours. The fact a business is open to customers does not mean it can release a vehicle at every point during that day. Tell us about appointments or fixed deadlines before a time is agreed.
Then check the recipient's acceptance window. A collection is only useful when the delivery end can take the car in its current condition. Do not assume it can be left outside a closed workshop. Our Hampshire vehicle transport service brings the two handovers into one plan so the car, addresses and people involved are clear before confirmation.
The final approach in and around Horndean
Local addresses may use London Road, Portsmouth Road, Havant Road or a property reached towards Blendworth Lane. Include the exact entrance rather than just the route you expect the transporter to follow. A postcode can cover several premises, and a car stored in a yard may be reached differently from the public front door. Tell us the unit, property name and gate reference where relevant.
At a home or outlying property, describe the drive, turn and surface. Mention a slope, narrow opening or obstruction if present. If another vehicle must move, arrange that with its owner before giving a collection window. Do not assume a neighbour's land or an empty-looking forecourt is available for loading. The collection needs to be based on access that is suitable and permitted.
For a vehicle kept at a managed site, establish who can admit an outside collecting vehicle and who can authorise release of the car. These can be different roles. If the owner is away, agree an informed keyholder rather than simply leave keys somewhere nearby. A current photograph can support the description of the entrance and parking position, but it cannot confirm that the car's wheels move.
Private purchases without an owner at collection
Ask the seller to confirm the registration, actual storage address and current condition. A sales advert may describe how the car behaved weeks ago, not how it will load today. Tell us whether it starts, rolls and steers and whether the parking brake releases. If a point has not been checked, state the uncertainty rather than promise an easy collection based on an old photograph.
Complete the sale and payment arrangements directly with the seller. AtWheel's role is transporting an authorised vehicle, not settling an unfinished purchase or confirming that an advert is accurate. Give us a collection contact who knows the car and can release it. If a friend or relative will attend for the seller, make sure they have the keys and know the proposed handover.
List parts, additional wheels and other items intended to accompany the car before quotation. These should not appear as an unmentioned extra load on the day. Agree the key and document handover and keep your own record of contents and visible condition. The recipient should know what is expected, especially if a buyer has arranged direct delivery to a garage and will not attend either end.
What the £3-per-mile rate covers
AtWheel calculates the transport route from PO13 8DG to the collection postcode, then from collection to delivery. The rate is £3 per mile for both legs. The approach to the car therefore counts as well as the miles travelled after loading. The stated calculation does not automatically add a return journey to base, and the recovery call-out is not an assumed extra fee for planned transport.
For an example using illustrative distances, 25 miles to pickup plus 35 miles to delivery total 60 miles. At £3 per mile the mileage amount would be £180. That is not a Horndean quotation. The real addresses determine the route, while suitability, loading requirements and any job extras are checked before the complete amount is agreed.
Use the transport quote form to submit the postcodes with the vehicle details and preferred dates. An estimate or enquiry does not guarantee a slot or complete an instant paid booking. Include seller appointments and workshop deadlines in the original request. A change of destination or collection position needs reviewing so the price still describes the movement you intend to arrange.
Non-runners and uncertain movement
An engine that will not start is only one kind of non-runner. A car may still roll and steer freely, or it may have a seized brake, damaged wheel or suspension fault. Our non-runner transport information explains the distinction. Describe the keys, steering, tyres and parking brake separately rather than use one broad label for every loading issue.
If the car has been standing, obtain a current description from the keyholder. Do not force controls, drag it towards the road or test movement on a slope to provide an answer. A clear statement that something has not been checked can be assessed before confirmation. Photographs taken safely may show the layout, but the booking should not infer mechanical condition from appearance alone.
For a low or classic vehicle, tell us about modified suspension, spoilers and any handling instructions. The driveway transition can matter even on a short journey. Our classic car transport page helps you prepare the enquiry. The actual car and entrance need consideration rather than assuming that every cherished vehicle uses the same collection arrangement.
Dealer and trade release requirements
For a dealer purchase, provide the stock or collection reference and the staff contact responsible for release. Our auction and dealer collection guidance covers useful preparation. Check whether the premises require an appointment or advance details for the collecting operator. Do not commit AtWheel to a time before availability has been discussed with the actual release requirements.
If the car will return after further work, explain that as a separate movement to plan. The first postcode calculation does not include another collection automatically. Give the intended stages and say whether the later date depends on a repairer finishing work. Each journey needs its own recipient, access and price confirmed rather than an assumption that a transport booking covers an open-ended sequence of moves.
Vans and covered collection points
AtWheel can discuss vans up to 3,500 kg, with their load, body style and dimensions checked. Mention racking, tools, goods, roof equipment and conversions. A working van may differ from the standard empty model. Passenger travel and extra materials should be discussed separately rather than assumed to be included in movement of the vehicle.
At a covered site, supply the signed clearance, level and route to the car. AtWheel can work with 2.1 m clearance where ramps, turns and loading room are also suitable. Access below 2.1 m is not promised. Obtain the operator's instructions where permission is needed, and do not assume an entrance gate being open establishes a suitable route through the whole site.
Delivery that suits the car's next use
Choose a place where the car can remain after unloading. A non-runner should not arrive across a shared drive or in a space that immediately needs clearing. At a workshop, confirm the allocated area and who takes the keys. At home, describe gates, slopes and other vehicles. Keep a contact reachable in case the planned unloading position is unavailable and a change needs agreement.
For surrounding routes, see Waterlooville transport and Clanfield transport, while providing the full addresses. For an immediate breakdown, use Horndean recovery and explain the current circumstances. The planned and urgent services should not be confused simply because both involve moving a vehicle.
Call 07444 400271 with the registration, route and handover details to discuss availability. AtWheel is part of SteelMarch Group. We will work through the vehicle condition, access and complete quote so your Horndean collection connects a prepared releasing person with a recipient ready for the car.
