Three locations should not become one vague collection
Winchester Road, Bell Street and Church Street are separately named council parking sites in Whitchurch. If a permitted collection is being arranged from one of them, identify the actual car park and bay. A buyer who has only been told “in town” should ask the seller to be more specific before requesting transport. The vehicle's position and the authorised loading arrangement matter more than a nearby landmark used to describe where the seller plans to wait.
For private property, give the street address and explain how to reach the vehicle within it. Mention a rear driveway, gate or shared approach that the postcode cannot identify. Check that an authorised person can meet the collection and that access will remain available during the agreed window. A seller's permission to buy the car does not automatically give the transporter permission to use neighbouring land or another business's yard for loading.
Our Hampshire vehicle transport service covers planned purchase collections, workshop transfers and other agreed movements. Tell AtWheel why the vehicle needs moving and whether either party has a fixed receiving time. We can then assess the whole job. Arranging a pickup before finding out when the recipient can accept the car can leave a perfectly accessible collection with no workable delivery, so start the conversation with both ends in mind.
Winchester Road has a lower barrier to consider
The Silk Mill's visitor page describes a 2m height restriction and a sharp turn into Winchester Road parking. AtWheel can work with 2.1m clearance, subject to assessment; we cannot assume entry beneath a lower barrier. If the car stands there, obtain the responsible operator's current instructions and tell us the exact position. An arrangement offered for ordinary visitors online does not guarantee permission or sufficient space for the proposed vehicle collection.
Any alternative has to be authorised and assessed as a complete route. Do not promise the seller that somebody will lift a barrier or use a different entrance without confirmation. The turning area, ramps and position of the car can still affect loading after an access question appears resolved. AtWheel does not advertise access below 2.1m. Describe restrictions before agreeing a collection date so they can be considered while there is time to organise a suitable plan.
The same principle applies to any covered or multi-storey parking involved in the move. Supply the marked height, floor and internal restrictions along with photographs where safe and permitted. A car that entered under its own power may not be straightforward to collect after it becomes immobile. We need the present condition and approach, rather than an assurance that “a car fitted yesterday”, because the collection involves different equipment and working space.
The £3-per-mile route starts at PO13 8DG
AtWheel calculates planned transport at £3 per mile for the quoted route from PO13 8DG to collection and then to delivery. The distance travelled to collect your vehicle is included, not only the journey with it loaded. An automatic return leg to the base postcode is not part of that formula. Vehicle suitability, access and any job extras are checked separately before the full quotation is confirmed for the movement.
Use the transport quote form with both postcodes and the vehicle details. Specify Whitchurch, Hampshire, to avoid confusion with another town of the same name. Add any different site entrance or restricted access in the enquiry. The form is a route calculation and enquiry point, not a guarantee of instant acceptance, a booked slot or online payment for a confirmed job. The remaining practical requirements still need to be agreed.
Our vehicle transport cost guide explains the approach and loaded mileage. A standard £100 recovery call-out is a separate recovery charge and is not automatically added to planned transport. If the destination changes or an extra stop is required, tell AtWheel before confirming the movement. The quotation should describe the complete proposed work rather than rely on a shorter route that excludes something you expect to happen during the job.
Buying a vehicle without an awkward release
Complete the sale arrangements directly with the seller and establish who is authorised to hand over the car. They should know the registration, agreed collection window and who to contact with a question. Have the keys and agreed documents ready. Transport does not include verifying ownership, settling payment disputes or assessing whether the purchase was a good one. If you need a purchase inspection, arrange that separately before treating the vehicle as ready for collection.
For an auction or dealer release, obtain the collection reference and correct entrance. The car may be stored somewhere different from the sales office. Our auction and dealer collection information explains the details to gather. Check whether an appointment is required, then discuss that requirement with AtWheel. A site booking should not be made on the assumption that a transporter can attend at a time that has not been agreed.
Ask about the car's present condition, even if you have seen it recently. A seller may describe the last time it ran rather than how it stands now. Include missing keys, flat tyres, warnings or any reason it cannot roll normally. Do not leave out an inconvenient fact to obtain a quicker mileage quote. Accurate information makes it possible to consider suitable handling before anyone commits to a collection that may require a different arrangement.
Workshop movements and non-runners
If the releasing garage has begun diagnosis or dismantling, ask what has changed since the car arrived. It may have a wheel removed, a component disconnected or loose parts that need securing. Tell the receiving workshop the same information and establish where the car can be unloaded. A key-drop facility alone does not mean the premises can accept an undriveable vehicle outside normal receiving arrangements. Confirm an authorised handover instead of leaving that question unresolved.
AtWheel assesses non-runner transport according to the car and its position. Starting, rolling, steering and braking are separate matters. Say which are known and which are uncertain, and describe any damage underneath or around the wheels. Do not attempt unfamiliar release procedures or improvised towing to make the car easier to move. Our non-runner transport guide helps you request the useful information without expecting a full diagnosis from the owner.
For an older or low vehicle, mention clearance and fragile fittings, and explain whether it is complete. A partly restored car may need a different collection from the same model in everyday use. AtWheel's classic car transport service is based on clear condition information and an organised handover. Record existing visible damage where safe and discuss any components that must travel with the vehicle rather than adding loose items at the point of loading.
Electric vehicles and charging-site handovers
The council identifies chargers at Bell Street and the Gill Nethercott Centre. If a move involves one of these locations, name the site and bay rather than simply saying the vehicle is at a charger. Tell us if it remains connected, what warnings are present and whether the normal movement controls work. Follow the charging operator's instructions for its equipment and the manufacturer's guidance for the vehicle; do not force a connector or unfamiliar control to prepare for transport.
A requested delivery to a charger needs a confirmed receiving arrangement and suitable space. Transport does not guarantee that a charger will be working, available or capable of resolving the vehicle's problem. Establish who will take responsibility after unloading and whether the site permits the handover. If there is an underlying fault or the condition is uncertain, a workshop may be the destination to discuss instead. Give the relevant facts so the transport plan is based on the intended outcome.
Suitable vans and prepared contacts
AtWheel can handle vans up to 3,500kg where the vehicle and transport job are suitable. Provide body type, dimensions and loading condition, including roof equipment or conversions. A commercial movement should make clear what will remain inside and whether any separate load transfer is needed. Do not assume carrying a van includes transporting staff, moving goods to a second address or unloading equipment at the destination. Those are additional requirements to discuss explicitly.
Our vehicle preparation guide helps organise keys, personal belongings and the handover details. Keep an authorised person reachable during the movement and report any changed access, keyholder or destination promptly. If the owner cannot attend, the representative should know the agreed instructions rather than simply being told to wait beside the vehicle. One consistent set of information helps the collection and delivery proceed according to the arrangement that was actually quoted.
Plan the journey with AtWheel
Call 07444 400271 or submit the route enquiry. Nearby planning information includes Andover vehicle transport and Basingstoke vehicle transport. If the vehicle has broken down unexpectedly, use Whitchurch recovery and explain the immediate position. For a scheduled collection, the exact site, vehicle condition, full road route and two agreed handovers provide the basis for a useful quotation and practical booking.
