An agreed car collection, not an approximate meeting point
Ask the seller for the address where the vehicle physically stands and who will hand it over. A broad Ringwood location or a postcode for the seller's office may not identify the yard, home or storage site holding the car. Give AtWheel the property name or business unit and the usable entrance. If a gate, keyholder or security contact is involved, arrange access before the collection period is chosen.
Explain the vehicle's current condition, including whether it starts, drives, rolls, steers and releases its parking brake. These are separate questions. A car that ran when first advertised may have changed while waiting, and a running engine does not resolve a damaged wheel. Pass on anything the seller has not checked instead of assuming it will work. A useful quote describes the vehicle that will actually be collected.
Our vehicle transport service can be discussed for Ringwood private purchases, dealer collections, garage transfers and other planned moves. Tell us your preferred dates and any genuine deadline. Mark provisional details clearly. The booking needs both a car authorised for release and a recipient able to accept it, rather than a date selected before the people at either end have been consulted.
Ringwood parking and access details
Ringwood Town Council identifies Blynkbonnie parking with access from Christchurch Road. If a car is kept there, give the actual facility and entrance rather than an instruction based on an adjoining road or business. Obtain any operator permission required for collection and explain the bay area. Parking access does not automatically establish a suitable loading position for every vehicle or method.
The Furlong has separate long-stay and short-stay areas, with a published 2.1m barrier at the long-stay entrance. AtWheel can work with 2.1m clearance subject to assessing the complete site and job. Give the current restriction, exact area and vehicle position. Matching the entrance figure is not a promise that turning, internal obstacles and loading space will all be suitable.
For a home or rural address, describe the final approach, gates and surface. Tell us if another car blocks the way or if the drive changes gradient sharply. Safe photographs may help explain the layout. Do not ask a seller to move an unroadworthy car into traffic or another car park to make collection seem easier. We need the present authorised position and can assess a practical movement from there.
Full-route pricing from PO13 8DG
AtWheel's stated rate is £3 per mile from PO13 8DG to collection and then from collection to delivery. Both legs count. A move between two Ringwood addresses therefore cannot be priced solely on the distance between those points. Provide full postcodes and actual physical locations so the quotation reflects where the vehicle is loaded and unloaded, not simply the parties' general contact addresses.
The A31 and its junctions provide the wider road context around Ringwood, but an apparent short gap on a map does not describe the collection route or the final entrance. Vehicle suitability, access and any job extras are checked alongside mileage. An extra return-to-base leg is not automatically added under the stated arrangement. Our transport cost guide explains why quotes should use the same route and condition assumptions.
Use the transport quote form to begin the enquiry. A calculation or submission does not itself reserve availability, confirm a time or complete payment. The practical booking still needs agreement. If the seller moves the car, the destination changes or a new handling issue appears, tell AtWheel before relying on the earlier quotation. The £100 recovery call-out is a separate recovery charge, not the basis for planned transport pricing.
Buying privately and settling release
Complete purchase terms and any inspection or document checks you want directly with the seller. AtWheel moving a car does not certify its mechanical condition or resolve a disagreement about the sale. If payment, preparation or release is outstanding, keep the proposed collection date provisional. A driver should arrive for a clear handover rather than be expected to finish an unresolved transaction on behalf of the buyer or seller.
Confirm keys and relevant paperwork are ready and nominate the person who will attend. If someone is acting for the seller, ensure they have authority and physical access. Another vehicle may need moving or a garage may need unlocking before collection. Arrange those practical steps in advance. A person reachable by phone cannot necessarily open a barrier or move an obstruction from another location.
Declare what accompanies the vehicle. Spare wheels, detached panels and heavy components should be part of the enquiry, not unexpected additions. An ordinary car quote does not automatically include a separate consignment of goods. Our preparation guide helps keep addresses, contacts, keys and contents together so the handover reflects the agreed movement.
Dealer and garage movements
For a dealer collection, obtain the release address and a contact responsible for vehicle handovers. The sales premises may be separate from preparation or storage. Confirm payment and readiness requirements are complete and provide a collection reference if used. Our dealer collection information explains the details that help when sales, accounts and the person holding keys have different roles.
When transferring from a workshop, ask what changed during diagnosis or repair. Parts may be removed, systems disconnected or wheels unavailable. Give AtWheel the current movement information rather than the condition recorded when the car first arrived. The receiving garage needs the same description so it can plan where the vehicle will go after unloading, especially if it cannot be rolled or steered.
Ask the recipient for its vehicle entrance, unloading area and person taking the keys. A repair appointment does not necessarily permit an unattended delivery outside opening hours. If release or receiving times change, update the booking contact before collection. Coordination between both sites is particularly useful when the owner is arranging the movement remotely and cannot attend either handover.
Non-runners and specialist cars
Our non-runner transport service assesses how the car moves independently of its engine. Report locked brakes, damaged steering, flat tyres and missing keys. Identify electric or hybrid vehicles and any known damage or handling guidance. Do not force mechanisms or attempt a makeshift tow to make the car sound ready. Honest unknowns are part of a responsible condition description.
For a low, cherished or modified vehicle, explain suspension changes, splitters and relevant driveway gradients. Our classic car transport page helps owners prepare handling notes. A model name does not reveal every modification or condition. Give any special starting or locking procedure, and tell us when photographs were taken if the car or its position has changed since then.
Safe images can help show the approach and surrounding space as well as visible condition. Do not work around unstable damage or crawl beneath a vehicle to obtain them. The assessment combines the car's movement with its route to a loading point. A clear view of a wheel may be useful, but it cannot show a locked gate or a tight bend elsewhere on the approach.
Vans, trailers and height restrictions
AtWheel handles vans up to 3,500kg subject to checking dimensions, weight and load. Mention high roofs, conversions, roof equipment and trailers. Explain fixed racking, tools and goods inside rather than using the specification of an empty standard van. Separate cargo delivery, unloading or storage should be discussed explicitly if needed, so the quote covers the real requested work.
If a trailer or another unit is attached, describe it and its condition at the enquiry stage. A quote for one vehicle should not be assumed to include everything connected to it. The same applies to bulky holiday or work equipment that affects access or handling. Give us the complete situation so suitable arrangements can be assessed before a collection date is agreed.
For restricted or multi-storey access, the confirmed capability is work with 2.1m clearance subject to assessment. We do not claim entry below it or guarantee every site with that entrance height is suitable. Ramps, beams, turns and bay position also matter. Obtain operator permission and barrier-release instructions, and tell us if access is available only within a particular window.
Delivery and the final booking details
At home, choose a place where a non-runner can remain without obstructing shared access. Think about a later garage collection if it cannot be driven. Give the receiving person's details and explain any gates or gradients. Keep one contact able to approve changes so the seller, recipient and driver do not work from competing instructions. A complete movement ends with an agreed position and accounted-for keys.
If the vehicle needs immediate assistance, use Ringwood recovery. Nearby planned routes include New Forest transport and Romsey vehicle collection. AtWheel is part of SteelMarch Group. Call 07444 400271 with the addresses, current condition and dates, and we will check the route, access and both handovers for your move.
