Vehicle transport in Aldershot

Aldershot vehicle transport starts with permission to collect and a workable route to the car. AtWheel checks those details alongside its current condition, destination and preferred dates. We arrange planned movements subject to suitability and availability, quoting the full mileage from PO13 8DG to collection and then delivery, with any job extras discussed for the actual booking.

Confirm the car can be released

Before choosing a transport date, establish who controls the vehicle and whether it is ready to leave. That may be a private seller, a workshop or a dealer with separate preparation staff. Give AtWheel the actual release contact and address. A booking should not rely on somebody at a general reception being able to find keys or authorise a car's departure when they have not been told about the arrangement.

If the vehicle is on controlled private or military-related premises, obtain the operator's access instructions and the authorised entrance. We do not claim automatic access to these sites. A person's ability to visit or walk through an area does not establish permission for a transporter to use the same route. Share any reference, appointment or escort arrangement that the site requires for the specific vehicle collection.

Our vehicle transport service can be discussed for Aldershot private purchases, garage transfers, dealer collections and other planned moves. Tell us why the car is moving and whether dates are flexible. Mark unresolved arrangements as provisional. The transport enquiry can help organise the movement, but it should not be treated as confirmation that a sale is complete or a controlled site will permit access without the necessary checks.

Local access details that change the plan

In Aldershot town centre, a car park's name may not tell a driver where to enter. Rushmoor states that High Street multi-storey has its entrance on Wellington Avenue and its exit onto High Street. Give the actual site and bay level, and obtain current operator instructions. A pedestrian route from nearby shops is not a vehicle loading approach, and the exit should not be used as a collection entrance by assumption.

The council lists High Street multi-storey's restriction as 6ft 6in, below AtWheel's confirmed 2.1m working clearance. We therefore cannot promise normal equipment entry there. A vehicle held inside would need discussion of its position, movement and any workable authorised alternative before a booking could be agreed. The official car park information is useful background, but the current sign and site operator should still be checked for the proposed collection.

For other restricted sites, AtWheel can assess work with 2.1m clearance. Ramps, turns, beams and room around the car matter as well as the entrance. We do not claim access below 2.1m or automatic suitability for every building displaying that limit. Do not move a disabled car to another location speculatively; any alternative collection position needs to be safe, authorised and compatible with how the vehicle can move.

Full-route transport pricing

The AtWheel rate is £3 per mile from PO13 8DG to collection, followed by collection to delivery. Both legs make up the stated transport route. A short move within Aldershot therefore cannot be priced solely from the distance between the two customer addresses. Supply the actual postcodes where the vehicle will be loaded and unloaded, particularly when a seller's contact address differs from its storage location.

The route is considered alongside suitability, access and any job extras. We do not automatically add a further return-to-base leg to the stated mileage arrangement. The £100 standard recovery call-out applies to recovery work and is not the pricing basis for planned transport. Our transport cost guide explains the information that makes a quote comparable with another quote for the same movement.

Use our vehicle transport quote form to start the enquiry. A calculation or submission does not by itself book a collection, reserve a time or complete payment. Availability and handover arrangements still need to be checked. If the car moves, the destination changes or a new handling problem appears, update AtWheel before relying on the earlier quotation for a different set of circumstances.

Buying a car from a private seller

Ask the seller where the vehicle physically stands and when they can attend. Confirm they have the keys, relevant paperwork and authority to release it under your purchase agreement. Arrange any inspection or buying checks you want directly with them. AtWheel collecting the car does not certify its mechanical condition or resolve a disagreement about the advertisement, ownership or sale. Those matters should be settled before transport is expected to take place.

Obtain current answers about how the car moves. Does it start and drive, does it roll and steer, and will the parking brake release? A description such as “ran when parked” may refer to months earlier. If the seller has not checked something, pass that uncertainty on. A flat tyre, missing key or seized brake is relevant to loading even if it seems a small part of the repair project you are buying.

Describe the home approach, gate and parking position. Another vehicle may need moving or a separate keyholder may need to attend. Ask the seller to prepare the agreed access without pushing an unsafe car into traffic. Safe photographs can help explain a narrow driveway or garage, but accurate permission and contact information remain necessary. The collection plan should start from the car's real position rather than a hoped-for easier location.

Dealer handovers and workshop transfers

For a dealer collection, get the release address and any collection reference. The showroom may not be the preparation or storage site. Confirm that payment and readiness requirements have been completed, and identify a person who can hand over keys. Our dealer collection information helps you gather the details when sales, accounts and vehicle preparation are controlled by different teams.

For a garage-to-garage move, ask what has changed during the work. A vehicle may have arrived as a runner but leave with parts removed or systems disconnected. Give AtWheel its current rolling, steering and braking condition. The receiving workshop needs the same information so it can choose a practical unloading position. An appointment for repair is not necessarily permission to leave a non-runner outside a closed gate.

List any parts travelling with the car. Extra wheels, detached panels and heavy components should be declared rather than assumed to fit within an ordinary vehicle quote. Keep release and delivery contacts together, and tell us if either site changes its timing. Our car preparation guide helps organise keys, paperwork and access so the handover can follow one agreed set of instructions.

Non-runners, modified cars and honest unknowns

Our non-runner transport service considers each vehicle's movement rather than relying on a label. Locked wheels, damaged steering and a brake that will not release can change the requirements. Identify electric or hybrid vehicles and known damage or handling guidance. Do not force a mechanism or improvise a tow to make the car sound ready. An accurate unknown is useful information when assessing what can be arranged.

For modified or low vehicles, describe lowered suspension, splitters and the gradients at both addresses. A generous street width does not remove a sharp driveway transition. Our classic car transport information is useful for cherished or older vehicles with specific handling notes. Tell us about special starting or locking procedures before collection rather than leaving the handover person to explain them after the driver arrives.

Photographs of the vehicle and surrounding space may help when safely taken. Say when they were made if the condition has changed. A close-up of a wheel does not show the gate or turn needed to reach it, so access information should accompany the images. The assessment uses the whole job: where the car is, how it moves and where it can safely be received.

Vans and business requirements

AtWheel handles vans up to 3,500kg subject to assessing dimensions, weight and load. Give available weight details and explain high roofs, conversions, roof equipment or trailers. Report contents, including fixed racking, tools and machinery. A working van being sold or sent for repair may differ from an empty standard example, so its model name alone is not a complete description of the movement.

Identify who authorises the transport and who will release the vehicle. If you have an existing trade arrangement, mention it so its applicable terms can be checked. Separate goods transfer, storage or unloading should be discussed explicitly rather than assumed. The person accepting delivery should know the van's actual condition and declared contents, with a suitable place ready for it to remain.

Agreeing a useful delivery

At home, choose a position that does not block shared access and consider a later garage collection for a non-runner. At a workshop, confirm the vehicle entrance and receiving person. If the recipient cannot accept the car at the agreed time, tell AtWheel before collection proceeds. A complete plan ends with a practical handover and accounted-for keys, not merely arrival at a postcode.
